Committed to enriching the lives of Albertans with an intellectual disability through sport.

Become an Athlete

Taking part in Special Olympics Edmonton creates opportunities for individuals with intellectual disabilities to build new friendships and participate in physical activity. It gives them the chance to learn new skills and discover their potential by becoming an athlete within Special Olympics.

As an athlete, you have the opportunity to train and compete in a sport on a weekly basis within your community, at a level appropriate for you. Special Olympics Edmonton is focused on providing a fun, engaging, inclusive, positive and healthy environment for all participants.

An individual may participate in more than one sport – space permitting. All individuals are expected to comply with the Special Olympics Code of Conduct, which aims to create a positive, encouraging and supportive environment for every participant.
