Taking part in Special Olympics Edmonton creates opportunities for individuals with intellectual disabilities to build new friendships and participate in physical activity. It gives them the chance to learn new skills and discover their potential by becoming an athlete within Special Olympics.
As an athlete, you have the opportunity to train and compete in a sport on a weekly basis within your community, at a level appropriate for you. Special Olympics Edmonton is focused on providing a fun, engaging, positive and healthy environment for all participants.
An individual may participate in more than one sport – space permitting. All individuals are expected to comply with the Special Olympics Code of Conduct, which aims to create a positive, encouraging and supportive environment for every participant.
Programs are open to individuals’ of all skill levels with an intellectual disability ages 2 and up. For more information and program costs please contact the main office at 780-448-1886 or e-mail: firstname.lastname@example.org
Programs are open to individuals with an intellectual disability and are designed to increase fitness levels, develop individual and/or team skills and to promote sportsmanship and fair play. No person shall, on the grounds of gender, race, religion, ability level, or financial constraint be excluded from participation. All specific sport programs are for individuals 8 years and older. For interested participants age 2-7, please view information on our Young Athletes programs
We host an annual athlete registration day in August in order to allow an equal opportunity for everyone to sign up for our programs. It is strongly recommended that athletes register on registration day to assist in the registration process and programming, and to help them ensure their spot in their program.
